Laura Marie Jasper

1913 - 2007

Laura Marie Jasper, 93, of Kilbourne, died at Heritage Manor in Beardstown, IL at 2:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007. She was born May 28, 1913 in Crane Creek Twp, Mason Co., to Louis and Sarah Elizabeth (Cozart) Haynes. She married Edward Jasper in Joliet, IL on February 27, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1999.

Mrs. Jasper is survived by two sons: Ira “Sonny”  Smith of Springfield and Vernal (Judy) Smith, Jr. of Kilbourne and one daughter: Katherine Sue Engelbrecht of Kilbourne. She also has six grandchildren: Shellie (Kieth) McGary, Vernel “Rowdy” Smith III, Stephen Alexander, Amy Foster, Holly Smith and Ira Smith Jr.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three children, four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Jasper is a member of the Petersburg Assembly of God and the Havana VFW Women’s Auxillary.

Graveside services will be held at Kilbourne Cemetery on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana from Noon until 1:30 on Tuesday. Rev. Mike Hopp will officiate.
