LaVerne E. Hahn

1928 - 2007

LaVerne E. Hahn, 79, of Havana, IL died at 12:02 a.m. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL on Friday, December 07, 2007. He had lived at the Veteran’s Home in Quincy since December of 2005. He was born, May 1, 1928 in Mason County, IL to George and Emma A. (Kolves) Hahn. He married Pauline Marlette at the 1st Methodist Church of Lewistown on March 9, 1967.

Mr. Hahn is survived by his wife of Lewistown, one brother, Lowell Hahn of Havana and one sister Lucille Noltensmeier of Havana. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Hahn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bath. He served in the Army from 1951 – 1953 in the artillery branch during the Korean War. He was a former member of VFW Post #6408 in Havana. He was a farmer and worked at the University of Illinois farm near Kilbourne for several years.

Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Brian Lesemann will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the IL Veteran’s Home Resident Activity Fund or to the American Heart Association.  Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
