Leonard Owen Bennett

Leonard Owen Bennett, 87, of Springfield, formerly of Petersburg, died at 6: 25 pm on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the Heritage Manor in Springfield, IL. He was born on October 5, 1918 in Columbia, KY to James Allen and Edith Kemp Bennett. He married Lorena Reliford in Indiana in 1937. She survives.

  Also surviving are three daughters, Audrey (Joseph) Neskov of Lafayette, Indiana, Kathryn (Jerry) Moore of Lafayette, Indiana, and Sheila (Rick) Hohimer of Springfield, IL; ten grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one brother, Don (Pat) Bennett.

  Two brothers and four sisters preceded Mr. Bennett in death.

  He was retired after 33 ½ years as a machinist at Ideal Industry. He was a member of the Calvary Temple Christian Center in Springfield, and a former member of the Menard County Rescue Squad.

  Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Rick Hohimer will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg.
