Lewis Leon Griffin

Lewis Leon Griffin, 86, of Mason City, IL  died at Memorial Medical Center in Springifield at 4:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2006. He was born on June 13, 1919 in Tazewell County, IL to Louis and Cora (Dean) Griffin. He married Lola M. Goodin on December 22, 1939 in Burlington, IA. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1999.

Surviving are one son: Robert (Judy) Griffin of Mason City and four daughters: Betty Griffin, Beverly (Floyd) Williams, Bonnie (Archie) Thomas, and Brenda (Kevin) Wetter all of Mason City. Also surviving are two sisters: Lola Meyers of Heyworth, IL and Irma (Dallas) Jacob of Lincoln, IL, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 infant son and two grandsons.

Mr. Griffin was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mason City. He had his own trucking company, Griffin Limestone Fertilizer Trucking, from 1948 until 1968. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. from 1968 until his retirement over 20 years later.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Mason City Assembly of God at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Rev. James Sprinkel will officiate. Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery.
