Lloyd Loeffler (1921 - 2008)
Lloyd Dale “Newt” Loeffler, 87, of Petersburg, died on
Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 5:30 am at his residence. He was born on May 22,
1921 in Panther Creek, IL to Ed and Verla Upp Loeffler. He married Dorothy Hager
on August 5, 1944 in Long Beach, CA. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Petersburg; two daughters, Karen (Jim) Miller of Mason City, and Marilyn (Gary) Whitley of Oakford; three grandchildren, Kristen Miller and Jamie Miller of Mason City, and Kyra Whitley of Petersburg; three great grandchildren, Noah Miller, Clay and Reese Miller-Markley all of Mason City; and a sister, Doris Dearing of Peoria. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Loeffler had farmed in Cass and Menard Counties. He later worked at Capital Supply in Springfield. He was a US Navy veteran, serving in WWII, in which he received a purple heart. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20,
2008 at 2:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held
one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
