Lloyd E. Conklin, 88, of Havana died at Mason District Hospital in Havana at 2:45 p.m on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. He was born June 24, 1918 in Kilbourne, IL to Leslie and Flossie (Ade) Conklin. He married Lora Mae Blessman September 14, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI.
Mr .Conklin is survived by his wife Lora of Havana, one son Michael (Illa) Conklin of Peoria, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters: Evelyn Williamson of Milwaukee, WI, Nina Patrick of Bath, Daisey Emmons of Alton, IL, and Patsy Kramer of Bloomington,IL; and one brother James Conklin of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters and one daughter Nancy Koke on May 25, 1982.
Mr. Conklin was a member of VFW Post #6408 in Havana. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1944 in North Africa in the African Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked at Illinois Power in Havana for 28 years retiring in 1978.
Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 -8 p.m also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Warren Hughes will officiate.
