Lois J. Boggs

1935 - 2010

Lois J. Boggs, 75, of Havana, died at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Sunset Manor in Canton after a long illness.

She was born July 23, 1935 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Jack Sr. and Hilda (Schulenburg) Hall. She married Kenneth Boggs, March 13, 1954 in Smithfield, IL. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Gloria (Tom) Tufford of Havana, Karen (Brad) Sarff of Loveland, CO; two sons, Steven Boggs and Allen Boggs of Havana. Also, five grandchildren, Jeremy (Tanya) Sarff of Buckeye, AZ, Nicole (Jeremy) Crandall of Commerce City, CO, Justin Boggs, Colton Boggs, Christopher Boggs of Havana; three great grandchildren, Brandon Sarff, Logan Sarff and Alana Boggs. Also, two sisters, Barbara (Melvin) Esselman of Havana, Mary (Lee) Stanfill of Columbus, GA; one brother, Robert (Charlotte) Byington of Mt. Vernon, IL.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Hall, Jr and Leonard Byington.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxillary VFW.

For many years, she and her husband owned and operated the Dairy Queen Brazier and the Red Lion Motor Lodge.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, conducted by Pastor Dave Byrd. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Havana.
