Havana, IL - Lora Beatrice VanEtten, 102, of
150 Yordy Rd, in Morton, formerly of Havana, IL died at 7:20 pm Tuesday,
Sept. 20, 2005 at her residence. She was born Oct. 17, 2005 in Eve, Kentucky
to Joseph and Melissa Goff Dobson. She married Melvin VanEtten on January
29, 1921 in Easton, IL. He preceded her in death. Two brothers also preceded
her in death, Lawrence and Landon Dobson.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Joyce Eileen Wright of Sebring, FL and 2 sons: Marvin Douglas (wife: Alice) VanEtten of Morton and Arnold Julian (wife: Anne) VanEtten of Dubuque, Iowa. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Havana having been baptized when she was 13. Lora was also a charter member of the Cleo Rebekah Lodge. Grandma Lora was a kind, caring Christian Lady loved greatly by her family and many friends in Havana and at Creekwood Apartments in Morton where she has lived the last several years. Lora will leave a blessed memory in all of our lives. Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at her church (First Baptist Church in Havana), conducted by Pastor Dave Byrd. Burial will be in the Walker’s Grove Cemetery near Easton, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at her church and memorial contributions my be made to the First Baptist Church of Havana. |
