Lowell C. Smith

1917 - 2010

Lowell C. Smith, 93, of Havana, passed away at Mason District Hospital in Havana at 8:20 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010. He was born August 9, 1917 in Havana to Chester and Fern (Martin) Smith. He married Zelda Breeze on March 15, 1982 and she preceded him in death on March 30, 1995. He later married Norma Jean Solomon on February 4, 1996.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Smith of Havana, son, Ronnie (Ida) Smith of Havana six grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Ted (Shirley) Smith of Garland, TX.

Mr. Smith is a member of the Havana Church of Christ. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was also a member of the American Legion. He worked at Fiat-Allis in Springfield for 30 years as well as Paris Cleaners.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation and burial of cremains will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at a later date.
