Lula Faye Pherigo

1911 - 2006

Pekin, IL - Lula Faye Pherigo, 95, formerly of the UAW High Rise in Pekin, IL passed away at 4:00 am Wed. Dec. 6, 2006 at Timber Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Pekin, IL. She was born July 10, 1911 in Kilbourne, IL the daughter of William and Mattie Ketchum Tackman. She married Ernest W. Pherigo May 10, 1928 in Chandlerville, IL and he died Feb. 3, 1993,

She assisted her husband in several business endeavors, including Ernie’s Auto Parts, which also included a Restaurant in its South Second St. Location for 23 years. She drove a bus for the city of Pekin and it’s school district, and was also employed for many years at the Princess Peggy Dress Factory in Peoria in her earlier years.

She was a long time member of the San Ridge Community Church near Manito. Althought in Timbercreek for many years, she rarely missed Sunday School or Church due to the kind efforts of her special friend, Jim Hall of North Pekin. She was a charter member of the Pekin Moose Lodge Women’s Auxiliary.

Surviving is one son, Leonard L. (Anne) Pherigo of Whitehall, PA; three granddaughters, Diana Sunde of Duluth, MN, Lynda McGrew of West Mifflin, PA, and Carolee Washburn of Carlsbad, CA. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Destiny Landry, Ariana Landry, Dustin McGrew, and Jamie McGrew and three great great grandchildren, Dakota Boker, Logan Landry and Zoey Timien. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, Fred, George, Edwin and Wilmer; two sisters, Francis and Wilma and one granddaughter, Joni Pherigo.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Sat. Dec. 16, 2006 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Pastor John M. Duden, Jr. Burial will be at a later date in the Kilbourne Cemetery at Kilbourne, IL. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of services on Saturday.
