Mabel Stier 1916 - 2010 Mabel Stier, age 93, of Shelbina, MO, formerly of Havana, IL,
passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at
approximately 3:20 pm at the Salt River Community Care Center in Shelbina, MO. She was born July 12, 1916, in Fulton County, IL the daughter
of Edward Adam and Freda Marie Kellersman Hermann.
She was united in marriage to George O.H. Stier on May 3, 1941 in Mason
County, IL. He preceded her in death
on August 13, 1991. Mabel is also survived by four children:
Doris Hickman and husband Joe of Shelbina, MO, John E. Stier and wife
Edie of West Union, Ohio, Betty Luebke and husband Charles, of St. Charles, MO
and Herman G. Stier and wife Tina of Avon, IL; thirteen grandchildren:
Tom Maubach, Laura Bray, Mike Hickman, J.L. Hickman, Lewis Hickman, Renee
Grooms, Nicole Tighe, Zachary Luebke, Jessica Luebke, Nicholas Stier, Valerie
Stier, Johathan Stier, and Abigail Stier; thirteen great-grandchildren, and one
brother; Gene Hermann and wife Joan of Havana, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother
Don Hermann, and one grandchild, James Wight. Mabel graduated from Easton IL High School, received an
Associate’s Degree from Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL and her Bachelor of
Education Degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She taught elementary
school for twenty-five years. Mabel is a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church in Havana, IL, also the St. Paul’s Ladies Aid, St. Paul’s Altar Guild,
and the Mason County Retired Teachers Organization.
She enjoyed her church family, playing
cards, being with family and friends especially her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Havana on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9:00
until 10:30 a.m., also at the church. Rev. Martin W. Liebmann Jr. will
officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery in
Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Online memorial messages may be left for the family
