Margaret C. Smith 1922 - 2008
Margaret C. Smith, 85, of Oakford, died on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on June 22, 1922 in Gradyville, KY to James C. and Aina Kemp Reliford. She married William Smith in Rossville, GA on July 6, 1941. She is survived by four sons, Billy (Janet) Smith of Oakford, Steve Smith of Bath, Ronald (Penny) Smith of Kinderhook, and Jim (Companion, Joanne De Bendictis) Smith of Oakford; two daughters, Peggy (Pete) Sutheard of Petersburg, and Sandra (Jim) Van Houten of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; two brothers, J.C. Reliford of Jeffersonville, IN, and Leonard Reliford of Columbia, KY; two sisters, Mary “Leo” Moore of Petersburg, and Lorena Bennett of Springfield; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Her parents; husband; a son, Jimmy Lee Smith; and a granddaughter, Melissa Kay Sinclair, preceded her in death. Mrs. Smith had been a homemaker and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Oakford, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Dr. Delbert Penrod will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s choice. Online memorials may be made at www.hurleyfh.com.
