Marie Sanders
(1920-2005)
Marie Sanders of Bloomington, formerly of Easton, died at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Bro-Menn Regional Medical Center: Normal. She was born January 28, 1920 in Decatur, to Jerry and Hattie (Harris) Covey. She married Charles Sanders on August 9, 1952. He died January 24, 1978.
Survivors include 2 sons: Michael Sanders of Akron, Ohio and Charles Sanders of Lincoln, Illinois: 4 daughters, Marietta Agge of Bloomington, Twilla Billingsley of Athens, Peggy Bergman of Mason City, Marilyn Ladda of Pekin, 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers: Joseph and Ed Covey, 2 sisters: Mary Dobbelaire and Betty Bishop. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, 1 granddaughter, 2 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-n-law.
Mrs. Sanders worked at Easton Community School District as a cook for several years. She worked at VanTine's Restaurant in Mason City, also as a cook. When she was younger, she worked at the turkey hatchery farm in Havana, as well as Pfeiffer's Potatoe Farm in the summer. Recently, she had been a baby sitter out of her daughters home in Bloomington. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Mrs. Sanders funeral was held 10:30 a.m. Friday July 15, 2005 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. The Reverend Dustin Fulton officiated with burial in Easton Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
