Marjorie L. Schmidt
(1918 - 2005)
Marjorie L. Schmidt, 87, of San Jose died at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. She had spent the past year and a half at the Mason City Area Nursing Home after residing in San Jose since 1925. She was born on January 8, 1918 in Easton, IL to George A. and Vera (Hurley) Furrer. She married Clarence C. Schmidt on June 13, 1937 at the Methodist Church in San Jose, IL. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1986.
She is survived by two daughters: Vera (Leroy) James of Emden, IL and Karen Weyhrich of Bloomington, IL; five grandchildren: Lisa (Rich) Dierker of Groveland, IL, Lori Watson of Naperville, IL, Leann (Todd) Knollenberg of Rockton, IL, Doug (Koby) Miller of Normal, IL, Darrin (Lisa) Miller of Algonquin, IL and eleven great grandchildren: Ally, Brent and Jack Miller of Normal, IL; Nikki, Hanna and Noah Miller of Algonquin, IL; Kristin and Kayla Dierker of Groveland, IL; Tommy and Michael Watson of Naperville, IL and Lauren Knollenberg of Rockton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother G. Kenneth Furrer and one sister Margaret Hoeft.
Mrs. Schmidt was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Allen’s Grove, IL where she was a member of the Martha Mary Ladies Aid. She was also a 4-H leader in Tazewell County for many years. She belonged to the San Jose Home Extension as well as the Mason County Farm Bureau. She graduated from San Jose High School where she was the salutatorian of her class. She was an avid card player and enjoyed crocheting afghans and baking coconut cream pies. She will be greatly missed by all. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at her church on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. J. Derek Riddle will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday November 8, 2005 at the Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose following the funeral services.
