Marsha Kay Pierson-French, 55, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on March 1, 1955 in Springfield to Melvin and Doris Smith Dambacher. She married James M. French, Sr. on January 6, 1990 in Havana.
She is survived by her husband James Marshall French, Sr. of Athens; mother, Doris Mills of Oakford; four daughters, Mendy (Todd) Titus of Springfield, Wendy (Jose) Ralat of Astoria, Rendy (Adam) Stephens of Bath, Lendy (Dennis) Armstrong of Havana; two step daughters, Sherry Moore of Columbus, GA, Sheila (Shawn) Wilkins of Altoona, PA; a step son, James (Paige) French, Jr. of Blackwell, MO; a brother, Dean Mills of Oakford; two sisters, Karen and Donna Mills, both of Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Dambacher; infant son, Frankie Pierson, Jr.; brother, Chief Master Sgt. Mike Dambacher; grandson, Matthew Vaughn; and stepfather, Dean Mills.
She worked as a cashier for Apolla Mart at Budís Corner for eight years. She was a past member of United Methodist Church in Oakford, past leader of 4-H and Brownies in Oakford, and also was a Sunday school teacher at United Methodist Church in Oakford.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Vince French will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakford Cemetery.
