Marshall Clayton Howe

1923 - 2009

Marshall Clayton Howe, 86, of Havana, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born April 16, 1923 near Lewistown, IL to Alexander and Mabel (Brillhart) Howe. He married Bernita Cole on December 28, 1947 at the Havana Central Christian Church.

Mr. Howe is survived by his wife, Bernita of Havana, two sisters, Dorothy VanEtten of Havana and Norma Weber of Bushnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elsie Prettyman, step-sister Harriet Sackman and step-brother Charles Sackman.

Mr. Howe was a member of the Havana Central Christian Church, Farmer's State Bank Board, in Lewistown, Fulton Co. Farm Bureau, Hickory Cemetery Board, Kerton Valley Drainage District and South Fulton Consolidated School District for many years. Mr. Howe served in the U.S. Navy in Guam during WWII. Mr. Howe had also been an avid woodworker for several years.

Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009 with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Dennis Steckley will officiate.
