Mary Elizabeth Hughes

1925 - 2008

Mary Elizabeth Hughes, 83, of Mason City, passed away at Havana Health Care on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9:01 p.m. She was born August 19, 1925 in Lewistown, IL to George Lawrence and Feena Melvina (Glowner) Hadsall. She married Lucien H. Hughes, Sr., on March 3, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1986.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by four daughters: Martha (Steve) Fairbrother of Richland Center, WI, Mary Beth (companion Gary Druien) Hughes and Molly (Billy) Williams of Mason City, Melinda (Craig) Cooper of Richland Center, WI, five sons: Lucien (Charlotte) Hughes of Havana, Dennis (Debbie) Hughes of Lone Rock, WI, Ronald Hughes of Missouri, Luke (Priscilla) Hughes and Daniel Hughes, both of Mason City and 33 grandchildren 47 great-grandchildren and one great-greatchild. She is also survived by one sister, Berneice McKane of Columbia, MO and three brothers: Johnny Hadsall of Lewistown, IL, Sammy Hadsall and Harrol Hadsall, both of Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and one son Lou Edward Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services in Mason City Cemetery. Nash Shawgo will officiate.
