Mary Louise Nelson, 67, of Springfield, IL died on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 10:20 PM at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on July 23, 1939 in Jacksonville, IL to Milton and Roberta Shoemaker Smith. She married Maurice Nelson on July 25, 1961 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Gina) Nelson of Pleasant Plains, and Marty (Beth) Nelson of Tallula; three daughters, Mary (Mitchell) Coffee of Tallula, veronica (Tom) Falconburg of Springfield, and Tina Merit of Tallula, IL; her mother. Roberta Smith of Springfield; one sister, Marsha (Bob) Brancecum of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Nelson had worked as the activity director at Petersburg Manor and later worked for SPARC as a coach for the Special Olympics.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. terry Sims will be officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, September 25, 2006 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm, also at the Hurley Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to SPARC.
