Kenneth L. Mathoney

1916-2010

Kenneth L. Mathoney, 94, of Mason City, IL died at 12:58pm on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born on April 4, 1916 the son of Michael and Alma (Parr) Mathoney in New Holland, IL.  He married Mary Whitesell on February 3, 1940 in St Louis, MO.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Mary; four nieces: Joyce (Neil) Conklen, Sandy (Dave) Deters, Thelma Langley and Linda (Cliff) Thomas; three nephews: Jim (Carolyn) Liesman, Lynn Snyder and Johnny (Brenda) Bozarth; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.  Mr. Mathoney is preceded in death by two sisters: Helen Wessbecker and Dorothy Liesman, and an infant sister and brother. 

Mr. Mathoney was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mason City; he farmed all his life and was a member of the Mason County Farm Bureau.   

Services will be at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, visitation will be one prior to service.  Nash Shawgo will officiate.  Burial will be at the Mason City Cemetery.  Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be left to Mason City Area Nursing Home.
