Mildred Douglas
(1917-2005)
Mildred Douglas of Ft. Myers, FL; formerly of New Holland, IL died 4:25 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2005 at Health Park Care Center in Ft. Myers, FL. She was born September 28, 1917 in Kaleva, MI to Delopha and Nora (Ford) Skaggs. She married Merle Douglas August 26, 1935 in Mason City, IL. He died April 15, 1975.
Survivors include one son: Ronald (Karen) Douglas of New Holland, IL; one daughter: Janet Sue (Robert) Maxwell of Ft. Myers, FL.; one cousin Darlene Robertson of Mason City, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Dorothy Becker.
Mrs. Douglas worked at Stetson China in Lincoln. Then she worked in the Foreign Titles section at the Illinois Secretary of State office for 10 years. After she retired from the state, she worked at Cranwell's restaurant in Mason City. She moved to Florida in 1988 and worked at Shellpoint Nursing home and then at Publix Food Service for the past 15 years. She was also a member of the Mason City Christian Church and had been a member of the Ladies Farm Bureau of Mason County.
Services for Mrs. Douglas will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. The Rev. Dustin Fulton will be officiating with burial in Richmond Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Building Fund for the Mason City Christian Church.
