Murle Hullinger, Sr.

(1926 - 2006)

Murle Lee Hullinger, Sr., 79, of Tallula, died on August 7, 2006 at the Memorial Medical Center at 6:25 am. He was born on November 16, 1926 in Bluffs, IL to Arthur and Gertrude Hughes Hullinger. He married Gwendola Surratt on April 17, 1945 in Littleton, IL. She preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by four daughters, Sharon (Wilbur) Shoemaker of Chandlerville, Joyce (Johnny) Brumelow of Tallula, Connie (Butch) Grogen of Tallula, and Lana Potter of Tallula; one son, Murle (Sue) Hullinger, Jr. of Tallula; one brother, Howard (Crystal) Hullinger of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

 

Mr. Hullinger retired from Fiat Allis after 30 years as a welder. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tallula, the American Legion, and the IAM Union. He was a US Army veteran. He was stationed in Okinawa during WWII.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 10:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Dale Sinclair will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm, also at the Hurley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Tallula.
