Samuel Nelson Bortell

Havana, IL - Samuel Nelson Bortell, 81, of Havana died at 12:22 am Fri. Feb. 10, 2006 at the Havana Healthcare Center. He was born Oct. 19, 1924 at Bishop, IL the son of Samuel and Mae Underwood Bortell. He married Frances Williams July 16, 1964 in Lewistown, IL and she survives.

Also surviving are 1 daughter, Robecca Sue (Ali) Almoumen of Houston, TX; 1 step-dau, Jolene Hayes of Eureka, CA; and 3 step-sons, Ronald L. (Catherine) Hall of Goreville, IL, Robert L. (Lynda) Hall of Taylorville, IL and William L. (Carol) Hall of Sacramento, CA. Nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one sister, Mary Keating of Havana also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana, a former manager of the Sycamore Motor Lodge and worked for Ace Hardware and B & B Motors for several years, all in Havana.

Graveside services will be held on Wed. Feb. 15, 2006 at 10:30 am at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana conducted by Father Stephen Engelbrecht. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday at the Hurley Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mason District Hospital in Havana.
