Havana, IL - Nettie Wemker, 96, of Havana , IL passed away at 11:00 pm Fri., Jan. 19, 2007 at the Culbertson Hospital in Rushville , IL . She was born Feb. 16, 1910 in Hedrick , Iowa to John and Elizabeth Pfeiffer Harfst. She married Henry H. Wemker March 5, 1939 in Bishop, IL and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1984.

Mrs. Wemker was a member of St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church in Havana , the Ladies Aid Society of her Church, and the Mason County Farm Bureau. She graduated from Easton High School and worked at Bonnett’s Turkey Farm and Keith’s Turkey Farm both in Havana and was an avid gardner and raised chickens.

She is survived by one daughter, Rose Marie (John) Burgard of Ipava, three grandsons, Barry and Brett Burgard of Ipava and Barth (Angie) Burgard of Havana; and one granddaughter, Bambi (Jeff) Traiger of Shawnee, Kansas. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Chelsea Burgard, Blaze and Sommer Burgard, Alaina and Amara Traiger. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Tues. Jan. 23, 2007 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana conducted by Pastor Martin W. Liebmann, Jr. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at her church. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
