Norman Douglas

1927 - 2006

Norman Douglas, 78, of Mason City, died at 7:50 a.m. on Saturday June 10, 2006 at the Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln. He was born to James Mack and Erna (Haak) Douglas in Spring Bank, Logan Co., Illinois on November 18, 1927. He married Jean Douglas in 1948 in New Holland, IL, she survives.

Mr. Douglas is survived by three sons: Steven (Maureen) Douglas of Middletown, IL, Mitchell (Margie) Douglas of Aurora, IL and Matthew (Diane) Douglas of St. Charles, IL; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson Adam Michael Douglas. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Kyle Douglas; two brothers: Richard and James Douglas as well as two sisters; Frances Curlo and Donna Reed.

He was raised on his family’s farm which had been in the family since the 1830’s. He started farming in 1948 and continued his whole life.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a memorial service held at a later date. Mr. Douglas’s family requests that memorials in his name be given to the Visiting Nurses Association, Maple Ridge Care Centre or the American Cancer Society.
