O. "Irene" Hansen

(1915 - 2010)

O. Irene Hansen 94, of Petersburg, passed away Sunday March 28, 2010 at Menard Convalescent Center.  Irene was born November 7, 1915 in Iuka, IL, the daughter of Forrest L. and Anna ”Lenora” Jane Brown Luttrell.  She married Marius Christen Hansen on November 23, 1933.

She has been a resident of Petersburg since 1975, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  She worked for the State of Illinois retiring in 1981.

She is survived by two sons Harold “Bud” (Phyllis) Hansen of Kingsport, TN., and Phillip  (Cindy) Hansen of Tallula, Il, two daughters Mary (Claude) Davis of Petersburg, and Marilyn (Bill) Fricke of Petersburg, one sister Betty Meikle of Taylorville, Il, twelve grandchildren, and two step grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, two sisters, and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 31, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at  11:00 a.m.  Pastor Jeffrey Gross will be officiating.  Visitation will be held Tuesday March 30, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Burial will be in Farmers Point Cemetery.
