Otis W. Beard 1921 - 2006 Otis W. Beard, 86, of Mason City died at 5:03 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL. He was born, August 1, 1921 in Mason County to Clarence and Virgina (Landis) Beard. He married Thelma D. Dennison, October 18, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. She survives. Mr. Beard is survived by one daughter: Diane (Jim) Bell of Las Vegas, NV, two sons: Dennis (Lonna) Beard of Jackson, OH and Dohn (Cathy) Beard of Springfield, IL, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. Mr. Beard was a member of the Mason City Baptist Church, the Mason City Optimists Club, Jaycees, and the Jackson-Keen Legion Post in Mason City. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 -1946. He retired from Corn Products in Pekin, IL after 35 years. Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. H. Curtis McAllister will officiate. Burial will follow at Mason City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Baptist Church.
