Paul Ira "Casey" Jones

1923-2006

Paul Ira “Casey” Jones, 82, formerly of Mason City and Pekin, died at 2:30pm, Sunday June 4, 2006 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.  He was born December 30, 1923 the son of Ira Haskins and Maudie Mae (Brockman) Jones in Salt Creek Twp.  He married Joanne Root July of 1945.

Surviving are two sons: DenMarlo Ray (Carol) Jones of Pekin, Illinois and Ronald Dean (Lynne) Jones of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; three sisters: Mary Jane Nehmelman, Virginia Hovey both of Mason City and Ruth (Merle) Rohlfs of Hartsburg, Illinois; two brothers: John (Edna) Jones and Jack (Bonnie) Jones both of Mason City; one sister-in-law: Linda Jones of Mason City; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers: Herbert and Kenny

Mr. Jones was a Veteran of WWII (Army) serving the South Pacific Theater in New Guinea.  He was a member of American Legion.  He retired after 40 years of driving for Teamsters Local 627, also drove for Block and Kuhl Company, Haggerty Brothers Steel, Laid-Law Wire Company and Bosch Trucking Company, then was a Pekin school bus driver, also worked for several years at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Gate 6 every May.

Mr. Jones also enjoyed car racing, Cardinal Baseball, being with family and friends, country music and traveling. 

Services will be at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, Thursday June 8, 2006 at 11:00; visitation will be Wednesday 5-7.  Memorials may be made to Illinois Veterans Home-Quincy or Alzheimer’s Association.  Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery with Rev. Bob Paddock officiating.
