Raymond R. Kemp

Raymond R. Kemp, 78, of Springfield died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital North. He was born March 2, 1928 in East Alton, the son of James Scott and Cora Nell Curry Kemp. He married Betty Miller in 1949 in Kane Valley, KY.
Mr. Kemp worked at Allis-Chalmers for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Eastview Baptist Church and Cloud Nine Ranch in Caulfield, MO, and for more than 30 years, Union Local 1027.
Survivors include, wife, Betty; six sons, Gene (Sandy) Kemp of Jacksonville, Larry (Julie) Kemp of Springfield, David (Barbara) Kemp of Illiopolis, Bob (Verna) Kemp iof Naples, Fla., William (Karin) Kemp of Benton, Ark., and Ricky (Lori) Kemp of Tallula; four daughters, Donna (Roy) Ahlers of Pleasant Plains, Carolyn (Keith) Norris of Tallula, Mary Lynn Kemp of Springfield and Joy Kemp (Fiancé, Mike Summer) of Chatham; 30 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; brother, Bob Kemp of Mason City; two sisters, Rosie Smith of Tallula and Shirley Van Den Busch of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, one brother, and one great granddaughter, Emily Jo Sanders, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2006 at 11:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Pastor Bennie Fisher and Pastor Walter Welch will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
