Rena Armstrong

(1916 -2009)

Rena Sophia Armstrong, 93, of Glen Carbon, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Eden Village. She was born on July 3, 1916 in Dexter, MO to Louis and Dorathea Boehme Prange. She married Lyle Wernsing. She later married Clement Armstrong.

 

She is survived by a son, Nelson E. (JoEllen) Wernsing of Edwardsville; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Wernsing of Hamel, IL; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by both husbands; two sisters, Dorothy Bailey and Charlotte Ahrens; and three brothers, LaVern Prange, Henry Prange, and Delmar Prange.

 

Mrs. Armstrong had worked as an LPN. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Wednesday Morning Bible Class, and church choir. She also assisted with the Menard Convalescent Center weekly religious service.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Jeffrey Gross will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
