Richard Seward White
(1922-2010)
Richard Seward White, 87, of Mason City formally of Hillsboro died at 3:15 a.m. on May 6, 2010 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home. He was born in Hillsboro the son of Bliss and Lela (Fisher) White. He married Lorriane Bloh-Benedict and she survives.
Also surviving are Al (wife Jean) White of Hayden Colorado; Rick White of Winter Park Colorado and Larry (wife Julie) Benedict of Mason City, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: John, Robert, and Bruce.
Richard was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Mason City. Richard was a veteran of foreign wars where he served in the United States Army and was involved in the D Day Invasion. He was a member at the Elks Lodge in Springfield and also has been a member of the VFW Post 10302 since 1993.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the United Presbyterian Church in Mason City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be left to the Mason City Meals on Wheels, VFW Post 10302 or to the United Presbyterian Church. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
