Richard Eugene Girard 1954 - 2008
Richard Eugene Girard, 53, of Topeka, died at his home at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. He was born August 18, 1954 in Canton, IL to Virgil and Sadie (DeFord) Girard. He married Angela Cook in Pekin, IL on August 16, 1991. Mr. Girard is survived by his wife, Angela of Topeka, two sons, Richard M. Murphy and Robert E. Girard and one step-son James E. Briggs, all of Topeka. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Devin and Cory Murphy of Mason City, IL, two brothers, Joseph Girard of Pekin, Pete DeFord of Topeka, two sisters Violet Lowe of Mason City and Jean McGothlin of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his brother Virgil Girard and sister Virginia Girard and his parents. Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the donor’s choice. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
