Richard W. Miller

Richard W. Miller, 60, of Petersburg, died on November 1, 2007 in rural Menard County. He was born on October 12, 1947 in Springfield to Walter Weert and Catherine Marie Wiseman Miller. He married Karen Lee Oltman in Petersburg on June 26, 1977.

He is survived by his wife Karen of Petersburg; two brothers, Gerald Miller of Tallula, and Marcus (Janalyn) Miller of Petersburg; and three sisters, Mary (Robert) Wright of Springfield, Alberta (Dean) Kindhart of Springfield, and Barbara (Donald) Gillmore of Petersburg.

His parents and one brother, Walter Thomas Miller, preceded him in death.

Mr. Miller was a farmer. He was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Springfield, Menard county Farm Bureau, Menard County Review Board, and Vintage Ag. He also had been a past board member and President of the Lake Petersburg Association. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army, receiving a bronze star. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 10:30 am at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Springfield. Pastor Paul Olson will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. There will also be an additional visitation from 10:00 am till 10:30 am prior to the funeral service on Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg.
