Robert O. Barton

(1936-2009)

Havana, IL - Robert O. Barton, 72, of Havana passed away at 12:45 am Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born Dec. 15, 1936 in Havana the son of James Olen and Ruby Cooley Barton. He first married Marie Budke and later married Mary M. "Midge" Boggs Jan. 1, 1997 and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Midge, his first wife Marie also survives of Logan, Utah along with one son; Kenneth O. (Barbara) Barton of Salt Lake City, UT; five daughters; Kathryn (Rick) Noble of Havana, Sara (Judd) Short of Lincoln, IL; Rachel (Colin) Spencer of American Fork, UT; Rana Barton of Salt Lake City, UT and Amanda (Landan) Profaizer of Logan, UT. Also surviving are four step-sons; Steven (Karen) DeVore of Fall Church, VA; Donald DeVore of Kenosha, WI; Patrick DeVore of Kenosha, WI; and Mitchell (Christine) DeVore of Antioch, IL; eighteen grandchildren: Jared Rusk, Justin Rusk, Jacob Ruck, Eric O. Barton, Ryan Barton, Jonathan Ellis, Samantha Ellis, Joshua Pinnow, Amanda Michelle Ellis, Jason Danley, Pryce Smith, Rebecca Elle Smith, Lilly Spencer, Jesse Spencer, Maren Spencer, Miles Spencer, Paige Spencer, Ruby Profaizer; seven step grandchildren; Derek DeVore, Stuart DeVore, Zack DeVore, Hannah DeVore, Tanner DeVore, Lena DeVore and Elias DeVore; and nine great grandchildren; Quincy Rusk, Noah Rusk, Nina Marie James-Rusk, Chaska Barton, Brianna Ellis, Jaxon Ellis, Rene Pinnow, Jace Danley and Madison Danley. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Rebecca Barton-Ellis and a great granddaughter, Amanda.

Mr Barton was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an active member and delegate of the Republican Party, an outdoor enthusiast who loved to hunt and fish. He was self-employed for many years and retired as a Lieutenant from the State of Illinois Department of Corrections.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wed. Oct. 14, 2009 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Branch President Ted Snider. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason District Hospital in Havana.
