Robert J Cunningham

(1925-2005)

Robert J "Bob"  Cunningham, 79, of Mason City, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born in Easton on September 7, 1925, to Robert Cecil and Clara Auxier Cunningham.  He married Faye E. Ingersoll on April 27, 1947.  One brother, Stanley Cunningham, preceded him in death.

Mr. Cunningham was retired from a lengthy career as a real estate broker and licensed independent insurance agent.  He was a graduate of Easton High School and attended Brown's Business College in Springfield.  He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, having served as a Seabee in the Pacific from 1943-1946.  He was engaged in farming for ten years in rural San Jose, upon finishing military duties and prior to beginning real estate training.  He then founded, owned, and operated Robert Cunningham Agency in Mason City, which is now the Laflen-Cunningham Agency Ltd.  He was a member of the American Legion, Greenview Amvets, and the Mason City Methodist Church.

Services were held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.  Nash Shawgo officiated.  Burial was in Mason City Cemetery.
