Robert "Bob" List

(1927-2008)

Robert H. List, 80, of Mason City, IL died at 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born June 3, 1927 in Mason City, IL, the son of Arthur S. and Eula Hewitt List.  He married Mary Thompson August 22, 1953 in Mason City. She survives.  Also surviving are two daughters; Cindy (Mike) Hoogerwerf of Prophetstown, IL, and Kathy (Terry) Stratton of Springfield, IL; one son, Kenneth of Beach Park, IL; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. List was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving aboard mine sweepers in the South Pacific.    He was a farmer for many years and an employee of the State of Illinois, Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9324; Past Commander of American Legion, Post 496; member of and Past Master of Mason City Masonic Lodge #403, A.F. and A.M; a member of Springfield Consistory; Ansar Shrine and past member of New Salem Shrine Club.  He was a retired member of the Mason City Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a member of the first Christian Church in Mason City.

Services will be at 11:00a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Mason City Christian Church with the Rev. Joe Briseno and Rev. Robert Paddack officiating.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Hurley Funeral Home, Mason City with Masonic rites following.  Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery on Friday, January 18, 2008 with military rites accorded.

Memorials may be made to his church; the Shriners Hospital, 2001 South Lindburgh Boulevard, St Louis, MO 63131, or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
