Robert Thomson (1916 - 2009) Robert F. Thomson, 93, of Petersburg, passed on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born January 15, 1916 in Menard County to Elmer and Bessie (Clary) Thomson. He is survived by five daughters, Mary Jane (George) Jackson of Centralia, MO, Catharine (Richard) McGary, Ruth Ann (Robert) Heyen and Norma (William) Severns, all of Petersburg, and Debra Thomson of Bemidji, MN; a brother, Lloyd (Dorris) Thomson of South Haven, MI; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. Mr. Thomson formerly was a farmer and retired from the trucking business. He was a member of the coffee club at Ayerco and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Mr. Thomson attended the Sweetwater Christian Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Petersburg Food Pantry.
