Roberta Nuding

1917 - 2010

Roberta Nuding, 92, of Canton, formerly of Havana, passed away at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton at 2:42 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. She was born October 16, 1917 in Havana, IL to Seth and Mary (Gillson) Robertson. She married Earl Nuding, Jr. on April 6, 1941 in Havana. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1988.

Mrs. Nuding is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Mark) Stephens of Canton and Kristine Nuding of San Diego, CA and Kauai, HI, as well as two grandchildren,  Jennifer Stephens of Harvard, IL and Tom (Katie) Stephens of Lisbon, IA and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Anna Stephens of Lisbon, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers, Roderick, Paul and Jimmy Robertson.

Mrs. Nuding was a member of the Havana Central Christian Church, PEO, Beta Sigma Phi and was an original member of the Fuddy Duddys Club in Havana. She had been named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Havana Rotary Club. She and her husband owned Layman Hardware Store in Havana for several years. She had also been employed as a bookkeeper.

Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana in Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
