Robert L. Behrends

Hudson, IL - Robert L. Behrends, 80, of Hudson, IL passed away on Sept. 19, 2009 at 10:10 am at BroMenn Healthcare in Normal, IL. He was born June 8, 1929 in Peoria, IL the son of Rodney and Beatrice Bale Behrends. He married Mary E. Gossmeyer Dec. 12, 1963 in Havana and she survives.

For many years Mr. Behrends sold International Trucks and vehicles. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea and later five years in the reserves. He was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, Scout Club of America, former Jaycee in Havana where he had served as its president. And the Midwest Maintenance Club.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Behrends is survived by one sister, Evelyn Meyer of Easton, IL, two step-daughters: Cheryl (William) Liebman of Waukegan, IL; Pamela Sue (Edward) Beck of Herrick, IL; one step son; Gary Allen (Holly) Sanmann of Chicago, thirteen step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Stanley and George.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thurs., Sept. 24, 2009 at the Easton United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Al Sample. Burial will follow in the Easton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 pm Wednesday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana and one hour prior to the service at his church. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Cancer Care in Normal, IL; the Easton United Methodist Church or the Hudson Rescue Squad.
