Robert N. Shipley

1922 - 2011

Robert Neville Shipley, 89, of Petersburg passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on November 12, 1922 in Petersburg, IL to Neville A. and Isabelle Montgomery Shipley. He married Bonnie Gail Brunen on April 20, 1944 at the Petersburg Central Presbyterian Church parsonage. 

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three daughters, Sandra J. White of Chesapeake, VA, Connie L. Caughey of Mahomet, IL and Nancy Boesdorfer of Danville, IL; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bess Jean Bradley and an infant son. 

Robert was a lifelong resident of Petersburg where he farmed most of his life.  He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Menard County Farm Bureau and Kiwanis. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg with Pastor Leah Elrod officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27 from 4 to 6 pm at Hurley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, American Diabetes Association, or Menard County Food Pantry.
