Roderick H. Jump Sr.

1939 - 2011

Havana, IL – Roderick H. Jump,Sr., 72, of Havana passed away at 4:47 am Sunday at the Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born Sept. 7, 1939 near Maple Mill, in Fulton County the son of Harvey and Elizabeth (Leonard) Jump. He married Cynthia Bush June 19, 1960 and she preceded him in death Dec. 20, 1998.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, an avid Cardinal and Bear Fan, an avid woodworker and worked with leaded glass. He was an honorary member of Havana Post #6408, the Scottish Rite and Mohammed Shrine both in Peoria and Havana Lodge #88 AF & AM. He loved family, life and camping and believed in “Pay as you go” He retired from Caterpillar in 1999 after 36 years of service, starting as a forklift operator and working the last six years as head of transportation and training at all of Cat's buildings in Illinois. The past 11 years he was worked as a delivery driver for Havana Printing.

Mr. Jump is survived by one son, Roderick H. (Susan) Jump, Jr. of Havana; one grandson, Brock; one brother, Ronald (Sherry) Jump of Decatur and two sisters; Mrs Jack (Shirley) McDowell and Mrs. Andy (Sharon) Nuttall both of Canton, IL and loving companion and caregiver Doris Delgin of Havana. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Rod Ann.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana will burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery near Canton, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Thursday at the Hurley Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF, Disabled Veterans or the American Cancer Society.
