Rosalyn Rita Tibbs

1936 - 2009

Rosalyn Rita Tibbs, 72, of Easton, died on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

She was born November 28,1936 in rural Mason County, Illinois, the daughter of Edgar (Bud) and Marie Francis Siltman Welker. She married Allen George Tibbs on October 28, 1952 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerald Harlan Welker; and a sister, Mary Lee Welker Price.

Mrs. Tibbs worked at Memorial Medical Center and later at the Illinois Department of Revenue, where she retired in 1997 after eight years. She also farmed with her husband in Mason County for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church, the Easton United Methodist Women where she served in many offices, including president, and a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She was also a former member of the Golden Acres Homemakers Extension and a former leader of the Golden Acres 4-H Club.

Mrs. Tibbs was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by a son, Randy Allen (wife, Donna) Tibbs of Greenview; a daughter, Deborah Katherine (husband, Raymond) Stout of Petersburg; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter brother, Leroy (wife, Patricia) Welker of Rome, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at her church on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Rev. Al Sample and Rev. Julie Wells Blythe will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
