O. Powers, 88, of
Havana passed away at 12:40 pm Sunday,
Nov. 2, 2008 at the
Mason City Area
Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 21, 1919
in
Mason City the daughter of Fred H. and
Ola Hawks Onken. She married Dr. Hollis S.
Powers March 30, 1946 in
Springfield, IL and he preceded her in
death Feb. 4, 1994.Mrs. Powers was a member
of the
First United Methodist Church in Havana,
United Methodist Women and a 50 year
member of the Petersburg Chapter of OES.
Surviving is one brother, Frederick "Fritz"
(wife: Betty) Onken of Mason City, a
sister-in-law, Joyce Onken of Havana and several
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by one brother, Robert and two sisters,
Eileen and Marjorie.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at
the
First United Methodist Church in Havana
conducted by Revs. Sidney Davis and
Robert Smith. Burial will be in the
Oakland Cemetery at
Petersburg. Visitation will be held one
hour prior to the service at her church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
Mason City Area Nursing Home or the Mason
District Hospital. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana
