Havana, IL - Roy Hertter, 97, of Havana passed away at 4:45 pm Sun. Dec. 3, 2006 at the Havana Healthcare Center. He was born May 10, 1909 in Pope County, IL the son of Otis and Alma Sistler Hertter. He married Lillian Highball Dec. 21, 1935 in Pekin, IL and she died May 19, 2003.

Mr. Hertter was formerly an equipment and dump operator for the C & IM Coal Dock in Havana. After his retirement from the railroad he worked as a grain inspector at the elevators in Havana. He was a member of the Havana Church of Christ and an avid gardener.

He is survived by one son, Cecil Hertter of Havana, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Fear of Elgin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday. Dec. 8, 2008 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Warren Hughes. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of services on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Havana Healthcare Activity Fund.
