Havana, IL - Ruby Rachel Sarff, age 100, of Springfield, formerly of Havana died at 4:12 am Tues., March 7, 2006 at Pekin Manor in Pekin, IL. She was born Sept. 11, 1905 in Mason County the daughter of John Henry and Rosa Mae Chambers Blessman. She married Carl Jackson Sarff on March 28, 1922 in Havana. He preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1962. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Rose Specketer on April 18, 1962 and a son Carl J. Sarff on March 17, 1991, along with seven sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are eight grandchildren, David and (Carol) Specketer, Denis Specketer, Ann and (Randy) Goyen, Maribeth Specketer, Michael and (Julie) Sarff, Mark Sarff, Susan and (Dave) Tindell and Mary Louise and (Pat) Spencer. Seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Oakford United Methodist Church and The Royal Neighbors. Mrs. Sarff worked for Hummer Mfg. Company during WWII, the Springfield Credit Bureau for 12 years and the Secretary of State for 16 years retiring in 1981.

Services will held on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 12 noon conducted by Pastor John H. Beiderwieden at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home (from 11:00 until 12 noon). Burial will be in the Snicarte Cemetery rural Bath, IL
