Russell Edison Weaver, 88, of Oakford , IL , died on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 4:30 pm at his residence. He was born on July 12, 1918 in Oakford to Bert and Grace Staley Weaver. He married Faye Gebhards on May 9, 1942 in Bobtown , IL . He is survived by two daughters, Connie Gilboe Baker of Springfield, and Rebecca Roberts of Oakford; four sons, Russell (Sharon) Weaver of Florida, Randy (Julie) Weaver of Galesburg, Ron Weaver of Oakford, and Robert Weaver of Oakford; one sister, Betty Bower of Roodhouse; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. One grandchild, Katherine Weaver, three brothers, and one sister, preceded him in death. Mr. Weaver had worked 35 years in school administration and retired from Annawan IL School District as superintendent in 1973. He also had been a mail carrier in Petersburg , and had worked at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg for several years. Mr. Weaver had been a member of the Clinton Lodge #19 AF & AM of Petersburg for 63 years. He was also a Shriner, a member of the Kiwanis club, and a member of the American Legion.. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during World War II. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oakford Cemetery in Oakford , IL . Rev. Dennis Smith will be officiating.
