Samuel Hopper

(1948 -2010)

Samuel F. Hopper, 62, of Oakford, passed away Tuesday August 24, 2010.  He was born January 26, 1948, in Springfield, the son of James and Dorothy Ball Hopper.  He married Velma Schafer February 19, 1979 at Chautauqua Park. 

Sam worked as a laborer at Fornoff Fertilizer Company.

Sam is survived by his wife Velma of Oakford, three sons, Harold (Christina) Schafer of Oakford, Daniel (Vanessa) Schafer of Petersburg, and Dennis (Tina Evans) Schafer of Tallula, two daughters Melinda (Charles) Tedrow, and Barbara (Robert) Laughlin all of Athens, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, one brother, James (Janet) Hopper of Mason City, one niece and one nephew.

His parents, and one grandchild preceded him in death. 

Funeral services will be held Monday August 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.  Rev. John Nelson will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
