Gary Shawgo (1946-2007)
Gary Wayne Shawgo, 61, of Mason City, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at his residence. He was born March 31, 1946 the son of Wayne and Dorothy (Rentschler) Shawgo in Lincoln, IL. He married Deborah Kahn on June 28, 1969 in Peoria IL. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Michelle (Eric) Tibbs of Havana, IL; Chrissy Fitzpatrick of Mason City, IL; Angie (Clint) Rauch of Sandwich, IL and one son: Jason (Jessica) Shawgo of Sussex, NJ. Nine grandchildren: Brandon and Allison Tibbs; Abigail, Garrett and Victoria Fitzpatrick; Austin and Kaitlyn Rauch; Taylor and Drew Shawgo. Two brothers: Dale (Wanda) Shawgo of Decatur, IL; Glenn (Brenda) Shawgo of Warrenton, MO; One sister; Ellen Shawgo of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Ed Shawgo. Mr. Shawgo was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mason City. He was a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, A Licensed Plumber, a General Contractor, and he retired from IDOT-District 6. He was a 2nd Lt. in the Air National Guard in Peoria, IL. Gary was an avid turkey hunter. He received a B.S.C.E. from the University of Missouri at Rolla. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at United Methodist Church in Mason City at 11:00 am. Rev. Stephen King will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, December 14, 2007 from 6-8 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery. Memorials may be left to his church.
