Shirley Arvedson 1926 - 2006
Shirley Arveson, 80, of Petersburg,
died on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield. She was born April 7, 1926 in Kenosha, WI to Fred and Wanda
Schultz Simon. She married Arthur Arveson in Anderson, IN on December 16,
1949. He preceded her in death.
Two daughters, Linda Arveson of
Atlanta, GA and Sharon McGarvey of Grand Rapids, MI; two stepson, Philip
Arveson of Milwaukee, MN, and Rev. Arthur Arveson of Hartford, WI; one
sister Alice Haubrich of Madison, WI; one brother, William Simon of
Florissant, MO; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren survive
her.
Mrs. Arveson retired from the State of
Illinois in 1991 and worked for the Lake Petersburg Association from 1992
until 2004. She was a member of the Petersburg United Methodist Church and a
charter member of the Crystal Lake Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Hurley Funeral Home in
Petersburg. Pastor Robert Shook will be officiating. Visitation will be held
one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in
Petersburg.
