Shirley May Kirkpatrick, 77, of Live Oak, TX, formerly of Havana and Washington, IL, passed away in her home on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 6:27 p.m. She was born June 11, 1930 in Havana to William and Martha May (McCausland) David.
Surviving are her 7 children Sandra Coker of Estes
Park, CO, Kathleen Lynch of East Peoria, IL, Robert (Rock) Kirkpatrick of
Roanoke, IL ,Shawn Kirkpatrick of Lampasas, TX, Kelly Kirkpatrick of Pekin, IL,
Tim Kirkpatrick of Round Rock, TX and Mary Proctor of Cibolo, TX. There are
12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her
mother, father and sister Maxine Mason.
She grew up and lived in Havana until she moved to Washington IL. After retiring from the Department of Agriculture in Peoria IL, she lived in Japan for a year with her daughter Mary and then returned and lived in Havana, working for the newspaper writing recipe articles and she assisted on the Watermelon festival. She also lived in Colchester Il working at the grade school library. She semi-retired to Live Oak TX where she worked from home editing novels. She loved plants, animals, reading, writing, nature and was a fan of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Yanni, Frank Sinatra and Charles Schultz (Snoopy).
Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007. Father James Fedosuk will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
