James Richard "Speed" Cunningham

1930 - 2007

James Richard “Speed” Cunningham, 76, of Mason City died at his home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2007. He was born October 20, 1930 in Easton, IL to Robert and Clara (Auxier) Cunningham. He married Dorothy Dabbs on December 28, 1958 in Hillsboro, IL. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2001.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by two daughters: Tina (Andrew) Shawgo of Mason City and Donna (Robert) Moore of Peoria, IL; and one son Danny Dabbs of Virginia Beach, Virginia, two grandchildren: Jimmy Hatfield and Jessica Shawgo and one great-grandson, Liam Hatfield. Also surviving are sister Betty (Fred) Onken and brother John (Janet) Cunningham, both of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers: Stan and Bob Cunningham.

Mr. Cunningham served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Caterpillar Inc after working there for 38 years.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2007 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City from 6 – 8 p.m. There are no other services scheduled at this time. Burial will be held at a later date at Mason City Cemetery.
